fresh kpop

the first 3 months of the year have been a disappointment for kpop as there were no fresh acts or great songs that were released. im glad that it's now april and kpop scene is back with cute and addicting songs from old and newbies!

here are some of the newly released songs that are on my itunes repeat the past couple of days:

Rania - Dr Feelgood
from what i understand, it's a girl group that is produced by Teddy Riley, known for composing songs for international artists like MJ and JayZ. There are 2 versions of this song, the English and Korean version since Riley plans to have them debut internationally. The group is composed of 6 girls from Korea, China and Thailand. The lyrics and dance moves are a bit too sexy by kpop standards (there were some criticisms) but I think if they're aiming for an international audience, a more sexy and stronger look might be more successful.
Dr Feelgood also takes a sample from Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams".


Rainbow - To Me
i didn't like their first single, Gossip Girl. i loved their second single, A and i'm totally addicted to this song. the chorus is catchy with the "oh eh oh eh oh eh oh eh oh eh oh eh...come come come to me..."


Brave Girls - Do You Know
they're supposed to be the counterparts of the Brave Brothers (i dont like them coz they're rap/hiphop). i love this song coz the beat sounds sweet and it's rare that girl groups release a medium tempo song as a title track and not some overly cutesy or crazily autotuned dance track.


4minute - You Know
i like their songs even though they tend to sound the same with the weird engrish titles. but i especially like this song because it's a different 4minute sound unlike their two title tracks mirror mirror and heart to heart  No official MV has been released but i hope they will promote this too.


Bigbang - Love Song
this song is included in the special edition of their new album. love both songs more than Tonight.


U-Kiss - I Dont Understood
ive never liked any of their songs ("Bingul Bingul" seriously?) but i like this song from their new album because they sound like Bigbang here.


Dal Shabet - Pink Rocket
their debut single "Supa Dupa Diva" was so-so albeit juvenile so their new single sounds a little bit better (still too cutesy though) and i dont understand how you can make a song about pink rocket (need to look for the english lyrics!)


Girl's Day - Twinkle Twinkle
this song actually came out a few weeks ago but i'll still include it here coz the song is infectious and fun to hum along to.. especially the part with "hajima-hajima-mamamamamamama... gajima-gajima-mamamamamamama..i love you"


Super Junior M - Love is Sweet
SuJu M is the China Sub-unit and i particularly like this song because it's written by Jay Chou. the music and lyrics are so typical Jay that I can imagine him singing this song instead.


Geeks - Officially Missing You
this song is a nice r&B track from 2 guys. the chorus and guitar sounds like a sample of Tamia's Officially Missing You.


Ye Ara - Heartbreak
i dont know much about ara, but she's a rookie singer and i like her debut single. her mv is quite dramatic.


f(x) - Danger
i noticed that i tend to like f(x) songs that are not their title tracks (chu was weird and lachata was boring) but this time, i like danger. i dont like any of the members though. they all look forgettable.


SNSD - Mr Taxi
their first original japanese single and i'm kinda disappointed. it does not have the catchy melodies of their previous korean songs but it's still tolerable since there's very few autotune. im looking forward to their MV!
