my kindle

finally, after more than a year of thinking, going back to the amazon website and reading the reviews on kindle, me and my cousin finally ordered our own kindle.. and now it's here!!! i was so excited i went straight home and opened it!

ooh!! i knew it's about 6inches, but didn't realize it was that big! well, not big, just about the size of the normal paperback and i love it! it's white, and thin with a silver back, just like an ipod.

it comes with a thin booklet with instructions on how to charge the battery and operate/navigate the buttons and menu. it also has a power adaptor.

i haven't peeled off the plastic screen. instead, i am now charging the battery. maybe tonight when the battery is fully charged i can switch it on and start putting my ebooks!! 

i haven't used it yet but i think this is one item worth spending on :)

new layout

i can't believe it's been a year since i've started blogging. i'm having a fun time writing and posting my fave stuff even if i know no one's reading my blog (haha). i decided to change the layout of my blog simply because i found this template really nice. a bit dark but still pretty nice to look at.

so cheers to the new layout and more bloggings to come! :)

henney goes to outback

it's been a while since we saw Daniel Henney on tv and now he's back with a reality / variety show program where he goes to Western Australia (Outback) with Chef Park Sung Woo (who won the It Chef Contest). The show is sponsored by Outback Steakhouse Restaurant. Daniel and the crew went to the Outback for 15 days to shoot the program. It will be shown starting April 2, 2010, 10pm at the O'live channel.

K and I went to Mumbai last week for work. I've always heard about this great seafood restaurant called Trishna but never got to try it during the last 4x i've been to Mumbai. Last week, however, K and I decided to try it.

We went to the branch in Andheri (West), which was about an hour away from the hotel. There were some areas going to the restaurant that was really traffic and crowded. I don't know if it's because a) it's rush hour, b) it was new year, c) it was a place with lots of street tiangges or d) it's always traffic in India. My guess is a little bit of all of them.

When we got there, the place was no full of people yet (around 2 tables occupied). It was only around 7pm so most people haven't started dinner yet. I also heard the place is quite expensive for average Indians so they only go there for special occasions and the restaurant is more popular with tourists and foreigners.

We ordered 3 dishes.. first, a jumbo pomfret cooked in Hyderabadi Tikka style. We had no idea what the hyderabadi tikka style would be like (something with black pepper and i dont know what the yellow substance was), it was recommended by the waiter so we followed his advice. And it was a good idea coz the fish was aromatic and flavorful. It was a bit big though (jumbo nga eh) and I ended up eating 4 pcs and K ate the rest (around 5-6 pcs). Next we ordered 2 jumbo tiger prawns grilled with cheese and butter. I was not expecting the prawns to be overpowered and stuffed with cheese, but the it tasted good (though a bit heavy coz the cheese was really thick!)

And last, was a king crab cooked with butter and garlic. I was a bit disappointed with the crab because it didn't look like a "king" crab. I probably would have made a fuss if i was still hungry but the 2 dishes left me so full, i barely had enough room for the crab. But still it was super delicious and loved every crabmeat I could get!

Overall, the food was delightful and I would love to come back next time and try the other recipes!

2PM's Park Jaebum is gone, now meet Jay Park of AOM! Now that he's from from JYPE and 2PM, Jay has opened his own Youtube channel and he will be posting his covers.  He posted his first video, Nothing on You and everyone in the Kpop world just went gaga and hits reached 2 million within a week!



Hope this will be a way for him to be discovered by the world! And if that happens, then take that JYP and 2PM! ;p

it's supposed to be fate... isn't it?

everyone in the team dreads going to mumbai..for me, it's not that it's terrible..i like the food, the people are nice,  though the place is dirtier and messier than manila (but i can tolerate that).. it's more of the feeling when you get there, like you're cut off from civilisation or you hold off living your life for a couple of weeks. communication is expensive (P35 per text, no free internet).. basically it's just so inconvenient (hotel is more than 1 hour away from the city and the hotspots). they also have a different culture and we can't do the normal things we do on weekends (like watching movies, shopping, hanging out with friends, etc).

so when it's time to choose who goes to mumbai for 2 weeks, A and i felt relieved coz we're doing the manila piece while the other two team mates get to go to mumbai (A and I did go to mumbai 4x or 10 weeks last year). but then 1 of those who was supposed to go can only stay for a week and the person who was supposed to substitute him can't go.. and now only 1 is left to do the work by himself. i know he doesn't want to go there..so when he asked me if i wanted to go.. i can't help but feel "awa" for him and since im not doing much in manila, thought it made sense for me to go there and help him out (anyways, 1 week is not bad, the days will just pass by quickly).. so i agreed.

a few hours later, i was chatting with my friend who is flying to bangkok for 3 weeks for an audit assignment. she asked me if i wanted to fly over and stay for the weekend.. both of us have never been to bangkok so she was excited while i seriously thought about flying there. then i realised that i will be making my stopover to bangkok (since i always fly thai airways going to mumbai) and so we started hatching our plan and setting our itinerary. think about it.. free airfare, free hotel.. isn't that fate? it was just meant for me to go there!

but then as quickly as the idea cropped up, fate decided to spoil the party. there will be some rallies and protests on the same weekends (march 14 to 23) as my travel period! at first i thought it was just a one-day rally.. now the news are saying it might get longer (think of last year's really bad problem when the airport was shutdown and several travellers were stranded for weeks!) and now philippines issued a travel warning not to go to bangkok for "non-essential travel". i texted my friend who is there now and she said that they were advised to stay inside the hotel for the whole weekend.. the rally will be for tom and monday and it's a wait-and-see situation..

damn it!!!!! why can't i catch a break?? why bother making me hope and anticipate that i'll finally be able to walk around bangkok (and not just the airport) when they will just take everything back in less than 24hours? it's like JYP letting Hottests hope that Jay will return to 2PM but then announcing so rudely and shockingly that Jay made a grave personal mistake and he will never be back to Korea? but i'm not the type to get so negative so easily.. so just like my unending support for Park Jaebum, i'll still continue to keep my hopes up and pray that everything will be peaceful in Bangkok. but i'm also not stupid. if it's really bad, then i won't go. anyways, i'll have other chances.

the theme is sexy

7i know i said i'm going to post kpop music videos every 2 weeks.. i had stopped doing it during the last few weeks of 2009 because of my hectic schedule. now i'm back and my theme is sexy. the girl groups have stopped the cutesy trend and started going black and sexy. which is better.

after school.. i didn't like their first mini-album.. i thought their costumes and music were trying a bit too hard to be like pussycat dolls.. but late dec to early jan 2010 they released their new single, Because of You and i love it! check out their music video and live performance of the remix version below.




KARA is back with a new mini-album and the title track is "lupin".. though they have a whole new black and sexy concept, their song still has some twinges of cute..see below for the music video and live performance..




T-ara has been dominating the charts during the first few weeks of Jan (until SNSD came back) with the atrociously cute song Bo Peep Bo Peep. They haven't had their goodbye stage and now they've released the repackaged album which features this new song called, "I go crazy because of you".. they've shed their furry animal paws and tails, but their new leather look is still corny. i think they need to hire a better stylist that will make them more sophisticated since their songs are slowly becoming better. here's the music video and live performance..




The only one left in the cute concept is the queen of girl groups, SNSD. their title track, "Oh!" features the 9 girls wearing tiny tees and short shorts.. the song and video sounds and looks too sugary sweet though if you actually listen to the lyrics, it's a bit inappropriate for their age.. but check out the ending of their music video... the black soshi is coming out! the first teaser already went out today (Yuri) so we're expecting their new black soshi to be released this april! check out the music video and one of their live performances.




April is almost around the corner.. can't wait for Hyori and Rain's comeback!!!

city hall

been a huge fan of korean dramas since 2000.. when it exploded in the country in 2006, 2007, i was tired of all the corny and cliched stories, i switched to japanese dramas (which are fast paced - only 11 eps and had more interesting stories - mostly centering on the 2 main characters and some friends.. no evil parents, no love square). late last year, i heard good reviews of kim sun-ah's new drama with cha seung-won called "city hall". i love sun-ah.. her drama in 2005, my name is kim sam-soon is one of my personal faves (plus it stars hyun bin and daniel henney). i haven't watched any of seung-won's dramas/movies.. ive always thought he looked weird.

anyways, i downloaded the english-subbed version and watched it last month.. and wow!!! such an great drama! totally restored my faith with korean dramas! this was no ordinary drama. unlike idol dramas and the over-the-top dramatics that's been showing on tv these days, city hall was quite refreshing to watch. the main theme of the story is quite appropriate.. it's about politics and elections. it also portrayed a realistic relationship between two adults. no cutesy stuff (well sun-ah is some a funny charmer). no lame or petty misunderstandings, no dog-cat quarrels. no smooching on the lips (and holding it still) for 1 minute. a real romance.

the first few episodes had a lot of funny scenes, though it was a bit confusing coz i didn't know where the story is headed, but the 7th to the last (20th) episode had great storytelling that i was addicted. the last few episodes had a lot of tearjerking and emotional scenes, esp the scenes with Seungwon and Sunah's character, and with Seungwon and his dad's characters. i didn't like the secondary leads (the married couple) though their own storyline was also pretty good. i really hated Seungwon's fiance at first but in the end, i liked and respected her.
