summer tv preview

fall season is almost over and here comes summer with a string of new and returning shows that i'm anticipating:

returning:

white collar - returns june 7 on USA

pretty little liars - returns june 14 on ABC family

drop dead diva - returns june 19 on lifetime

true blood - returns june 26 on HBO

season 1 was great, 2 was weird and creepy but season 3 was kick ass! eric's lost his memory so he will be a good eric this season and can't wait for eric and sookie to get together (well almost)!! 

new shows:

the voice - may 10 on NBC

christina aguilera, adam levine, ceelo green and blake shelton acts as mentors and listens to the contestants perform instead of watching them. im not an american idol or xfactor fan but this one's interesting.

the 9 lives of chloe king - june 14 on abc family

it's about a teenage girl with special abilities, a bit like buffy the vampire slayer. let's see if this is a hit or a miss.

the lying game - aug 15 on abc family

from the producers of pretty little liars 

sheer genius

love love love the concept! "invisible" bookshelf. whoever thought of this is just pure genius and creative!!

lenten sacrifice

i've been spending the last couple of days thinking of what i can give up this year and offer to the Lord. finally my friend A had a good idea.

this year, i'm giving up internet for 2 days, Holy Thursday and Good Friday. No internet means no social networking, no surfing, definitely NO downloading of any kind and not even playing games on the ipod touch that requires internet connection. also no checking of emails and ym chat.

so i'm going to have a restful and reflective 2 days and i'll check back in on Black Saturday.

fresh kpop

the first 3 months of the year have been a disappointment for kpop as there were no fresh acts or great songs that were released. im glad that it's now april and kpop scene is back with cute and addicting songs from old and newbies!

here are some of the newly released songs that are on my itunes repeat the past couple of days:

Rania - Dr Feelgood
from what i understand, it's a girl group that is produced by Teddy Riley, known for composing songs for international artists like MJ and JayZ. There are 2 versions of this song, the English and Korean version since Riley plans to have them debut internationally. The group is composed of 6 girls from Korea, China and Thailand. The lyrics and dance moves are a bit too sexy by kpop standards (there were some criticisms) but I think if they're aiming for an international audience, a more sexy and stronger look might be more successful.
Dr Feelgood also takes a sample from Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams".


Rainbow - To Me
i didn't like their first single, Gossip Girl. i loved their second single, A and i'm totally addicted to this song. the chorus is catchy with the "oh eh oh eh oh eh oh eh oh eh oh eh...come come come to me..."


Brave Girls - Do You Know
they're supposed to be the counterparts of the Brave Brothers (i dont like them coz they're rap/hiphop). i love this song coz the beat sounds sweet and it's rare that girl groups release a medium tempo song as a title track and not some overly cutesy or crazily autotuned dance track.


4minute - You Know
i like their songs even though they tend to sound the same with the weird engrish titles. but i especially like this song because it's a different 4minute sound unlike their two title tracks mirror mirror and heart to heart  No official MV has been released but i hope they will promote this too.


Bigbang - Love Song
this song is included in the special edition of their new album. love both songs more than Tonight.


U-Kiss - I Dont Understood
ive never liked any of their songs ("Bingul Bingul" seriously?) but i like this song from their new album because they sound like Bigbang here.


Dal Shabet - Pink Rocket
their debut single "Supa Dupa Diva" was so-so albeit juvenile so their new single sounds a little bit better (still too cutesy though) and i dont understand how you can make a song about pink rocket (need to look for the english lyrics!)


Girl's Day - Twinkle Twinkle
this song actually came out a few weeks ago but i'll still include it here coz the song is infectious and fun to hum along to.. especially the part with "hajima-hajima-mamamamamamama... gajima-gajima-mamamamamamama..i love you"


Super Junior M - Love is Sweet
SuJu M is the China Sub-unit and i particularly like this song because it's written by Jay Chou. the music and lyrics are so typical Jay that I can imagine him singing this song instead.


Geeks - Officially Missing You
this song is a nice r&B track from 2 guys. the chorus and guitar sounds like a sample of Tamia's Officially Missing You.


Ye Ara - Heartbreak
i dont know much about ara, but she's a rookie singer and i like her debut single. her mv is quite dramatic.


f(x) - Danger
i noticed that i tend to like f(x) songs that are not their title tracks (chu was weird and lachata was boring) but this time, i like danger. i dont like any of the members though. they all look forgettable.


SNSD - Mr Taxi
their first original japanese single and i'm kinda disappointed. it does not have the catchy melodies of their previous korean songs but it's still tolerable since there's very few autotune. im looking forward to their MV!

i watched rio last week with my brother's family, though the movie was just passable, i liked the songs since most were samba songs (the setting is in rio de janeiro of course). two songs that caught my ears:

Awesome movie! A bit like avatar / inception!! First time i actually liked jake gyllenhall! I wish we all have a chance to go back and fix what we did wrong!

****SPOILER AHEAD****
i got confused with the ending though. Some are saying goodwin was in the alternate universe but i dont think so. I think that scene is in the original timeline coz that was what jake was trying to prove-- that he can save the people on the train and his text msg to goodwin was source code being even better than they assumed it to be.

i'm soo disappointed with this movie :( :( i loved the trailer mainly because i can relate to reese's character - a 31 year old single gal who can't decide what she wants. i was expecting that this is a good movie given that i like reese and paul rudd (he's really really super cute in a geeky way) and i loved jack nicholson since as good as it gets. but this movie was a bit boring! there were some parts that i liked but the writing and plot was as confused as lisa (which was too bad). i didn't know if she was thinking about life after baseball or choosing which guy to be with. despite the bad storyline, i thought at least they would give a romantic climax but they didn't so i feel bitin. and i didn't see any character growth in any of them so sayang talaga!

there were some nice quotable and funny quotes throughout the movie though..

frequency

i love watching this movie over and over again.. aside from the time travel and murder mystery, i love dennis quaid and jim caviesel.. i love their father-son bonding.. esp since i never got to know my own dad and i wished i could turn back time and told him not to go into the fire and he probably will still be here now...

killer dream

last sunday, i had an intense dream that my brothers and i killed lady gaga. i can't remember the exact details of the dream except for these:

we were having an out of town trip (or picnic) with lady gaga. i was with my mom, 2 brothers J & M, lady gaga and her parents. for some reason, i thought of gaga's parents as in laws so maybe in my dream lady gaga was married to my brother (??). i was with J and we can see LG and M across the street, they were knee deep in the mud. LG was bending over and trying to find something in the mud, when my M shoved her down the mud until we couldn't see her (my thought was she drowned).

then the next scene came and we were with LG's parents -- i was out of breath, as if i ran far away from the "crime scene" and acting like nothing happened. a few minutes later, there was a commotion behind us, when we looked at the crowd, we heard someone say that LG's body was discovered a few kms away from where we were standing (since M just shoved her into the mud, the body easily floated and discovered) by a lady and she has called the cops. i looked at my brothers and we were talking if we will get caught but my brother said we won't since we didn't leave any incriminating evidence but then as i reached for my wallet, i realised that my shangrila card (dont ask me why) is missing and that LG was holding it when she died. i panicked, that they might pin me as a suspect but when the cops came and talked to us, we were all calm and pretended we didn't know anything and then they left and we were safe.

i dont remember much what happned after but my mind jumped into another dream (i usually do that) -- i dont remember the details for the dream, but it was at night, i was planning to go home but for some reason, i was stuck in that place and i just kept walking and going around trying to look for soemthing (i dont know what) and even climbing on the roof. i would speak with some people then a taxi is waiting for me and yet i just kept passing the taxi and not getting in. all this time i felt scared and gloomy.

weird right??? i dont know what it means, but i've been having these scary dreams for the last couple of weeks.. am i dreading something? am i feeling listless? or just lonely?
